After enjoying numerous cruises (including several with weak to no wifi), a common occurrence involved meeting others and having difficulty exchanging contact information and social connections. My solution — take two days to create a simple web application that allows users to upload a background photo, personal photo, name and custom URL to generate a phone wallpaper image with an easy-to-scan personalized QR code. Simply show one’s screen and share! An additional benefit is that in the event of a lost phone, the owner will have a better chance of reuniting with it given how identifying details are immediately accessible. (2022)
